During my summer at CRG, client engagements made up 80% of my summer, leaving 20% solely dedicated to development. From Day 1, intellectual curiosity was the theme. I participated in structured training programs essential for navigating the following nine weeks. Throughout the client engagement weeks, activities like lunch & learns, client showcases, and networking events complemented my project. It all came down to an exciting final week, featuring a project where we put our knowledge and skills to the test, presenting to the entire practice. It was fulfilling and fostered a culture of collaboration and mentorship.

I loved being able to make a real impact by owning a piece of work throughout my summer internship. My project team integrated me quickly and gave me the confidence to own the supply chain financial modeling for our client deliverable. It was also quickly evident that my team members were not only focused on the work I was producing, but also in mentoring me and making sure that I was learning every step of the way.

I learned to pause and consider the purpose behind each analysis I was asked to produce. This practice deepened my understanding of the project’s objectives, leading to more impactful analyses. I also became more comfortable asking questions to my project leaders, as well as broader questions to my assigned mentor. Everyone at CRG was supportive and eager to help me develop new skills throughout the internship.

I knew I wanted to focus on consumer/retail and CRG provided a unique blend of operator and consulting backgrounds that other firms did not have. Plus, the opportunity to join something new and growing was exciting.

My biggest piece of advice for summer interns is to throw yourselves into as many positions as possible to learn new skills. Do not be afraid of the discomfort of not knowing how to do something – your team will always help. Beyond that, try to spend as many days in the office as possible, organizing events with the other interns, try to talk with one new CRG-er each week, and get involved in some of the employee resource groups A&M has to offer.
