An MBA summer internship can sometimes feel like a high-stakes situation. If you’re switching careers post- business school, you want to make sure the pivot is the right one in every sense: from the people you work with, to the culture of the firm, to the location of your job. Internships are the best way to test these factors out. However, in June 2021, I found myself staring down an entirely virtual CRG summer internship wondering how I was going to get a genuine sense of the people and group.
There are three things that influenced my decision to accept my CRG full-time offer. First, my internship experience gave me the opportunity to round-out my consulting toolkit. I spent the first half of my summer conducting market research to benchmark our clients against their international competitors. Presenting this research back to our internal team and MDs allowed me to improve my storytelling skills. The second half of my summer was focused on building a pricing model which required pulling and analyzing large data sets to generate insights our clients could digest and act on. These projects were interesting to work on, and just the tip of the iceberg in terms of capabilities I could develop working with CRG! I left wanting to continue building my toolkit.
Finally, I was grateful for CRG’s human-oriented approach to mentorship. For example, I had a summer developer who met with me weekly to discuss my goals for the internship, how he could best set me up for success, and ways I could get the most out of my internship experience.

Each intern was also assigned a peer “buddy”; mine was my go-to resource for everything from filling out my timesheet correctly, to tips on where to live as I planned my move to New York after business school. These reasons gave me the confidence to accept my CRG full-time offer!
